March 25, 2020
Good Evening Bobcat Families,
Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we begin to communicate plans and help you prepare for our shift to remote learning on Monday, March 30th. As your PVA family we are keeping you in our thoughts as we move through this challenging time together.
Today you should have received a welcome letter from your child’s homeroom teacher (elementary K-5) and from our PVA admin and Middle School team (6-7). On Friday, our teachers will be sending more information about schedules, frameworks, expectations, and activities for next week. We understand that many of you may need assistance with retrieving your student’s S# and password and have fielded a large volume of calls this afternoon. We will respond to all phone calls and voice mail messages for these requests over the next two days.
Instructional Materials Pick-Up For our elementary students (K-5), we have arranged a time for instructional material and consumable workbook “pick-up.” This Friday, March 27th, your child’s homeroom class has been assigned a time and location (either the bus loop or the car loop) to come by school to pick-up instructional classroom materials that may be utilized during this remote learning time. If you are unable or do not want to pick up instructional materials, please know that our teachers will scan and email any necessary workbook pages that may be assigned.
It is also important to note that these materials are NOT the personal items in your student’s desk or cubby. The materials collected for distribution are math, science, and social studies consumable workbooks that students may be assigned a lesson from during our time away from school. At this point and time, we are not in a position to have any students or non-school personnel in the building and will not be cleaning out desks or cubbies.
All necessary instructional materials have been collected, labeled in a brown paper bag and will be handed out in a “drive-thru” type assembly line (parents and students are asked to stay in their cars and materials will be brought to you upon arrival). Please see the schedule below for your designated time and location of pick-up. This pick-up will occur on Friday, March 27th only.
*If you have students in multiple grade levels, please arrive at your assigned time for one class and then you will be directed to a parking spot where your other student’s materials will be brought to you.*
At this time ALL middle school instructional materials will be accessible online. There will be no pickup of locker items for middle school. If your middle school student has a unique situation which would require access to the building, you will need to call the school and each situation will be reviewed on a case by case basis.
The only pick up for middle school materials is for Band. This has been communicated via Mr. Price to band families.
We will spend Thursday and Friday putting the final touches on our remote learning and continuity plan and our administrative team and your child’s teacher(s) will send additional communication later in the week to ensure that everyone is ready to go for Monday.
We are truly grateful for your support and efforts to make your homes an extension of Palm Valley Academy. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher(s) if you have any questions or concerns.
Until next time, be well.
Jessica Richardson- Principal
(Please note that this is a mass broadcast communication that cannot receive reply emails.)
